POSITION TITLE: EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER DIRECTOR
BUILDING LOCATION: Solomon Early Childhood Center (SECC)
PAYMENT RATE: $35,000-$50,000 depending upon qualifications
WORKING HOURS: 40 hrs.; Full time; 12 months

EVALUATED BY: Superintendent of Schools, Justin Coup and/or Solomon PK-8 Principal, Amber Fouard
PURPOSE: The Early Childhood Center Director is responsible in the planning, coordination, and delivery of early childhood learning in the USD #393 early childhood center program. The Director will work closely with the Solomon PK-8 Principal and the Solomon Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet one of the following five options (K.A.R. 28-4-429):
OPTION 1: Twelve semester hours of academic study or equivalent training in child development, early childhood education, curriculum resources, nutrition, child guidance, parent education supervised practicum, and administration of early childhood programs; and six months teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools
OPTION 2: A child development associate credential and one year of teaching experience in licensed centers of preschools, or supervised practicum in licensed centers or preschools.
OPTION 3: An associate of arts degree or a two-year certificate in child development; and one year of teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools, or a supervised practicum in licensed centers of preschools.
OPTION 4: An A.B. or B.S. degree in child development or early childhood education, including a supervised practicum; and three months teaching experience in licensed centers of preschools.
OPTION 5: An A.B. or B.S. degree in a related academic discipline, and 12 hours of academic study or equivalent training in child development, early childhood education, curriculum resources, nutrition, child guidance, parent education, supervised practicum, and administration of early childhood programs; and six months teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools.
- 60 academic credit hours
- 12 months of job-related experience or has a combination of 30 academic credit hours and six months of job-related experience.
- Knowledgeable of Kansas Department of Health and Environment regulations for early childhood center facilities.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license (prefer Kansas).
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Health and Tuberculin Certificates on file (after employee offer is made).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit and interview prospective early childhood center employees.
- Ensure efficient scheduling to maintain required staff: child ratios.
- Assure compliance with local, state and federal standards.
- Ability to coordinate and instruct all required staff development, training and orientation.
- Maintain current and accurate staff training documentation, including preparation of required reports.
- Conduct annual written performance reviews/evaluations of all early childhood center staff.
- Assist in classrooms as needed.
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for children.
- Communicate information to both staff and parents.
- Continually seek ways to promote the USD #393 Early Childhood Center to the community.
- Recommend program modifications based on site observations.
- Maintain a consistent system for reporting program related information to the superintendent.
- Participate in creating the annual budget and monitor expenses monthly.
- Ability to maintain financial records of the early childhood center participants to ensure all tuitions are financially current.

- Interacts in a professional manner with other staff members.
- Other duties as assigned by the Solomon PK-8 Principal and/or Superintendent of Schools.
