POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT TEACHER/ FLOAT 

BUILDING LOCATION: Early Learning Center
PAYMENT RATE: $12.00 - $14.00 hourly rate based on experience & education
WORKING HOURS: 40 hrs; Full time
BENEFITS ELIGIBLE: Yes

EVALUATED BY: Justin Coup, Superintendent of Schools AND/OR Christy Clarkson Program Director 

PURPOSE: The Assistant Teacher assists in the USD #393 Early Learning program.  The Assistant Teacher will work as directed by the Lead and/or the Program Director.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Must be at least 18 years of age and is at least three years older than the oldest youth in the group.

• Valid driver’s license (prefer Kansas).
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Health and Tuberculin Certificates on file (after employee offer is made). 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Provide a safe and welcoming environment for children.
• Clean classrooms and maintain an acceptable and safe environment.  This includes daily custodial duties of the classroom space.
• Displays good judgment in decision-making situations.
• Responds positively to constructive suggestions for improvement.
• Utilizes time constructively and effectively.
• The ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
• Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. 
• Serves as a role model for children in behavior, appearance and grooming
• Display dependability and punctuality in attendance.
• The ability to communicate clearly.
• Must have the skills and abilities to carry out the program of activities.
• The ability to foster positive, healthy relationships with children.
• The ability to provide supervision and guidance to a group of children under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
• Must complete required professional development training as required.
• Maintains confidentiality of classroom, student and family information. 
• Interacts in a professional manner with other staff members.
• Serves as a role model for children in behavior, appearance and grooming.
• Display dependability and punctuality in attendance.
• Ability to react to changes and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other duties as assigned by the  Program Director or Superintendent of Schools.
